Survivor since 2012
My experience is almost exactly like Kristine's. I am currently in chemotherapy and also am on Adriamycin, Cytoxin, and Taxotere every 3 weeks. I have had 4 out of 6 treatments.
This is my second bout with breast cancer (11 years apart, but not a recurrence -- this one is a new cancer!), but I didn't have chemo the first time. I didn't know what to expect, but it hasn't been as bad as I had heard it was.
Fatigue is my biggest problem, because the combination can cause anemia and almost always causes generalized fatigue. I haven't had any nausea/vomiting to speak of. Total hair loss, from head to toes. I also have some neuropathy in my finger and toe tips. It just feels weird -- slightly numb, but it doesn't really bother me. It's affected my eyesight somewhat, and my brain doesn't function very well. I'm very forgetful -- in fact, I couldn't remember my phone number this morning!
Like Kristine said, stay hydrated. That's really important. Also, if you have side effects that can be treated, take the medicine right away to stay on top of it. I've had a lot of pain with Neulasta shots (to boost my white cell count). so I take pain meds immediately when I start to feel the pain coming on.
I could go on and on, so if you have any more questions feel free to ask. Best of luck!
